Who we are and what we do

Mr. Dasu Sunkara witnessed a distressing accident involving a cow. Deeply moved, he personally took the injured animal to a veterinarian and ensured it received the necessary treatment. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of his unwavering commitment to animal welfare.

For the next several years, Mr. Sunkara dedicated himself to rescuing and treating injured cows, using his own funds to cover all expenses. His selfless service and passion for animal care culminated in the establishment of “Save the Cows” as a registered NGO in 2019.

Founder

Since its inception, Save the Cows has been dedicated to the rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation of cows in need. Through his personal contributions, Mr. Sunkara has invested over 50 lakh INR to support this noble cause from 2013 to the present day. To date, we have provided cremation services for over 900 cows and rescued and treated thousands more.

We provide these services for large animals, including cows and bulls. To rescue their health, we must give them medical treatment. During treatment, due to fear, these animals can be difficult to control, requiring significant manpower and making this work riskier than many other social services.

For the past 11 years, we have been burying homeless cows or bulls that died on roads, using salt and earth to ensure proper funerals. We have also rescued several thousand animals during this time.

Mr. Sunkara has frequently been awarded for his social responsibility and kind-heartedness.

Our mission at Save the Cows is to provide immediate medical assistance, shelter, and ongoing care to injured and abandoned cows. We believe in creating a compassionate community where every cow is treated with kindness and respect.
